Whatever. Keep doing what you’re doing, Steve. Cause when I stumbled upon your Youtube channel (and LFR!) a year or so ago, I decided you’re awesome. I can’t believe you were in school, interning, AND doing the LFRs all at the same time. You deserve your job.
I don’t see what difference his age makes. Whether he is 30, or 13, all this person is doing is trying to get a response. Which you have delivered. As a professional in the sports biz, the professional thing to do would be to ignore him altogether.
So obviously I’m a few days late on this, but I had a gist of what was going on via twitter. Until now, I thought this guy was a 25-30 year old guy ranting about how he didn’t like Steven, Jeff, and so on and so forth. I had absolutely no idea this guy was 40 years old -_- I only got through about 4:30-ish minutes of the video and I only have two simple questions for him. What exactly does twitter followers have to do with trust and honesty…? And how do the “fake followers” define who the person is..?
* “I’m Not going to name names”, 3 seconds later “Steve Dangle”
* He deleted all the comments on YouTube because they were all against him
* One of the words not Tattooed on Oakley, Intelligence
* This Reeks of jealousy
* I didn’t know the CBC hired based on amount of twitter followers. I guess those years of University were just to pass the time.
* A lot of people (Myself included) followed Steve before Twitter was a thing
* Oakley has at-least 2 twitter accounts and they follow each other
* And Finally, If I could get an amazing job just by buying followers, then direct me to the fake follower store because that sounds like a solid investment
I think I know where he got his inspiration for this video:
he’s all ego as he tweets from two acctounts at the same time, as for inactive accounts people dont have to tweet if they dont want to its totally up to them
Regarding his integrity that he claims he holds so dear, I like the part where he automatically assumes ‘fake’ followers must be bought accounts. Even if he did have proof the followers were fake, it doesn’t mean there is bribery or some other sort of compensation for followers going on, yet he insists it musts be true even though he provides 0 evidence for it. And then he rambles on about integrity. Accusations without proof is the furthest thing from integrity.
Regarding his claim that he was driving people to Marlies games, simple math shoes that even if the percentage he states of Jeffler’s followers being fake was true, Jeffler still has many more legitimate followers than he does (as well as pretty much all the rest of the twitter accounts he accused of cheating).
And I would just like to state that I would not be surprised if my account came up as fake on his app thing he was basing his stats on. I have had my account for almost 3 years, but have only made 56 tweets total, but I do follow a lot of people. But I do consider myself a legit user, and I must be because Steve Dangle has never given me any money (although I would take it if offered). But I wouldn’t follow this Oakley dude even if he did give me money.
What a joke. This guy killed any chance he had at getting a media job. Nobody wants to hire a 30 year old whiner that calls out tried and tested industry professionals. We support you as always Steve. Keep up the good work!
Oh my word, quit your bitchin’. I find it incredible that this guy can have such a gripe with people that are just doing their own thing. Oh Steve, did CBC ask for your follower totals in your job interview? I’m sure that would have been top of their list so they could compare with other candidates… What a moron.
Okay, So, the first thing that stands out in this video is the point that he takes 9 minutes to say something that could have taken him 3 or less. He repeated his message over and over. Secondly, he claims he’s in an upstairs library to a studio apartment. He must be doing well for himself already. Thirdly, and most importantly…
Having worked in commercial radio broadcasting myself, I’ve found that it’s not always talent or attention – but who do you know. The connections we make in life, the people we talk to, the places we see as journalists all go in to a proverbial demo too. The ability to show others that you can work as a team and get along with one another is far more helpful to a broadcasting journalism career than a bunch of fake account subscribers. Hopefully, that is what Steve and Jeffler are understanding, – a lesson that has been wasted on this guy Okle-dokle over here.
Honesty??? This ass took something I said out of context last night causing me to get abuse on twitter. At least Dangle and Jeffler check their fact. This pathetic excuses of a man better hope I never met him or he’s going to get his ass kicked by 20 something girl.
Troy,
So he is arrogant and insecure for responding to someone publicly denouncing him and calling for him to lose his job? You feel threatened by a ‘kid’ and make a 9 minute long rant about how its unfair that he has a dream job (That he went to school for and worked hard for next to no money for years to accomplish) and he’s the one who is insecure? I mean seriously dude, for someone who must be far older and obviously more experienced and mature, you kind of come off like a bully in elementary school.
Oh and I would consider putting more effort into your videos than ‘set-up camera on tripod, press record and rant’ if you ever want to get that job at CBC or the Marlies. I’ve been watching Steve for 3 and a half years now and I have seen his progression as a video maker and seeing as I am in a related field I also know how difficult it is to do the things that Steve does regularly.
Grow up.
Sincerely,

the real question is, how insecure do you have to be to download an app to track another person’s twitter followers and film a video of yourself complaining about it?
you’re 40 years old, you seem pretty upset about the fact that steve and jeff (15 years younger than you are) are seeing more success in their chosen field than yourself.
also maybe you would have more followers if your twitter account wasn’t locked.
this guy sounds like a butthurt 13 year old girl…. 2nd most influencial person in Toronto? Reason the Marlies gained fans during the playoffs? Yeah, sure.
Wow, I was embarrassed just watching that video…..
this guy should know… that places like CBC hire more based on sanity.. than they do twitter followers….
lol this guy and his #firstworldproblems

Guys, go easy – he’s obviously got some sort of developmental disorder. Look at his face.

From a REAL LFR follower
I cannot believe someone whos about 30 years old, is making videos on the internet crying about twitter followers.
What is this world coming to?
I wonder how many dicks Troy Oakley had to endure to become the well-balanced, emotionally mature, and thoughtful person he is today.

Thanks for posting on your website…my god, your arrogance & insecurity is mind boggling.
