Hey Steve,
Congrats on another great year of hockey, maybe next year we will get to see a playoff LFR but then again i’ll be good if we even get to see any hockey next year with the potential lockout. As for the devils hit, I think if you look just at what Scuderi did, 99.9% of the time the player keeps on skating with or without the puck and would just get rubbed out by the chasing player. Unfortunately for him (and the devils for that sake) he turns his back to Bernier which in itself seems like a kinda stupid thing to do and turns what would normally be a routine bump into the boards into a gruesome hit. Yea the facts are facts and the refs made the right call that hit was worthy of the 5 and a game, but it just seems players are getting use to turning there back to the opposing team and expecting not to get hit by anyone. Don (Cherry) warning kids about making that kind of decision then getting criticized for doing it, is in itself, mindboggling, as much as the media (no offense steve) has been steadily playing up huge hits and how dangerous the NHL has become** it seems like lots of players are not using there heads, and playing like morons. It was still an amazing playoffs and crazy that after a 16-4 record from a 8th seed team that included beating the 1-2-3 seeded teams (sweeping the 2nd) that after the cup is won everyone is talking about one hit, yea it was a changing moment of that game but one hit though it can change one game does not change a whole series. Look forward to seeing ya next year steve!!
** Just a personal opinion on the NHL media attitude.
