I don’t think AHL time would benefit Gustavsson, to be honest. He doesn’t have an injury he’s recovering from, and while he hasn’t been playing his best, the team hadn’t been either when he was starting.
Give Reimer the game in PHX, then Jiggy the Calgary game to see how he handles it.
I don’t mind Reimer staying up, however, I do have a problem with him staying up and playing a lot of backup/healthy scratch. He needs to be playing lots of games whatever league he is in.
I’ve always been a big believer in stones. No, not the gipsy fortune telling kind. You know, having what it takes to know you have what it takes and then delivering on the potential. I see glimpses of that with this kid. Some kids just have it, I say play him until he proves he’s too young. Best case scenario – the kid carries the team the rest of the year and steals the No1 job. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before. Um Felix Potvin. Worst case scenario, he loses a couple of games, after which you say you’ve done good kid, now play your socks off in the AHL cause I’m expecting you back soon.
Hey Steve,
I loved all of the nicknames for James Reimer. I may have to steal
some of them. Oops, I meant “borrow” them.
I’ll say it, there’s an elephant in the room. Give the monster some AHL games to give Giguere some exposure for a trade and give Reimer his due.

No mention of that amazing penalty kill from Orr?
I also left out where I beat you senseless at NHL 11 last night.
